Music Ministry

Sunday Services

Music Ministry

Music is an important part of the life of Walnut Grove, providing leadership in worship and enrichment for the community. The music program includes opportunities for children, youth, and adults to sing and play instruments as well as participate in other worship arts to bring praise to the Lord. We sing and play many styles of music including traditional hymns as well as contemporary songs. The Worship Choir leads congregational singing during the weekly worship services and often presents special music programs at Christmas and Easter.  The children's musical group, Hallelujah Kids, presents an annual music program at Christmas and sings periodically for special occasions.

Goals:

-To share our faith through different avenues of music

-To lead in worship and provide music with an emphasis on scriptures

-To involve volunteers in the music program of the church

-To reach out to others in the community through music

The various music groups include:

Worship Choir

The Worship Choir is a group of adults and youth who serve as the primary music group leading the traditional hymns and praise songs during the weekly Sunday morning worship service. Organ and piano accompaniment is used for the hymns with a keyboard and guitars used for praise songs.  This group meets weekly on Wednesday nights in the choir room at 7:00pm.

Worship Band

The Worship Band accompanies the contemporary songs sung during the weekly Sunday morning worship services. The band is comprised of an acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and keyboard. This group meets weekly on Wednesday nights in the choir room at 6:30pm.

Hallelujah Kids

Children in grades K through 5 make up this energetic and excited singing group.  Their new name comes from a combination of the former "Hallelujah Choir" and "Kids" of KidsKrew. We use various rhythm instruments and colorful shakers when learning music and doing other musical activities. Practices usually are held on Sunday afternoons in the choir room during the school year and at other times as announced.
